Northern Pike RecipesWe have northern pike recipes that are absolutely delicious. Contrary to what you may believe, the northern pike is a terrific fish to eat. The meat is tender, flaky and goes very well with a number of side dishes. Many believe the colder the water the pike comes from the better it tastes. In fact some prefer pike to the fan favorite – the walleye! The northern pike has a lot of bones, no question about that. But did you know there is a straight forward way to de-bone northern pike (check out our fish filleting section for details).
Grand Marnier Pike Ingredients: Northern pike fillets Flour Salt and pepper to taste Cayenne Butter Grand Marnier 1 cup milk Mix the flour, cayenne, salt and pepper to taste in a large bowl. Dip the pike in milk and roll it in the flour mixture. Heat the butter in a skillet or frying pan, bringing the butter to a sizzle. Put a shot of Grand Marnier in the pan. It may flare up (which is perfect). Immediately place the fish in the frying pan with the butter and Grand Marnier. Cook about 5 to7 minutes on each side (or until golden brown). Fish is done when it flakes with a fork. This is a great northern pike recipe. For added fun, try a shot of Grand Marnier for the pan, and a shot for the cook! This fish recipe has an orange undertone that is delicious. Fish and Chips Ingredients: 2 lbs northern pike fillets 2 cups pancake mix Juice from fresh lemon 1 egg ¼ cup vegetable oil Salt and white ground pepper to taste Flour To make the batter combine the pancake mix, lemon juice, egg, salt and pepper in a bowl. If your batter is too thick, simply add a touch of water or milk to thin it. Dust the pike with flour before dipping in the batter. Heat the oil in a deep pan or skillet and carefully place the pike into the oil, cooking until golden brown. Serve with tartar sauce and lemon slices. This is a very good crunchy fish and chips recipe. Thanks for checking out our pike recipes page. Happy eating.
