Lunar Fishing Calendar

A lunar fishing calendar is a useful tool to help anglers catch their trophy. Fishing can often be fantastic three days before and after a full moon. But there is more to consider than simply the calendar.

Knowing the time of day the moon rises and sets (along with the time the sun rises and sets) will provide you with four windows of opportunity. Do your homework and know to the minute when the sun and moon will rise and fall. Fish will be most active in the 90 minute period surrounding these times. Big walleye , pike and trout , are often taken in accordance to the moon phase fishing calendar. Especially large muskie have been landed by using a lunar calendar over the years.

Weather fronts can nullify any expected advantage a lunar calendar can bring. Stable weather is an advantage when fishing at all times. If you are lucky enough to have stable weather in accordance with the peak fishing times on the calendar, you could have the experience of a lifetime.

Do your homework. Check the moon phases and use it as a starting point. Remember there are other factors, but a calendar that shows the moon phases can be a great head start to a fantastic weekend on the water.
