Ice Fishing Information
It all starts with a playbook
As you look for the best ice fishing information to sharpen your skills, keep in mind the rules are not written in stone. There are a variety of strategies that, in general terms, work well season after season. But you have to be prepared to change your methods if things are not going your way.
An example of this would be ice fishing for walleye. If you continually return to the same location time after time, walleye can become conditioned to the same bait and presentation. Sometimes you have to change the look, even if it goes against what has always worked.
There are times when moving to a bigger jig or lure may provide the necessary change the walleye are looking for. Equally as often, downsizing can do the trick. Keep an open mind and consider every outing to be an experiment.
In clear water or on a bright day, small lures often work well. In murky water or on an overcast day, you want to go with something a little bigger. Keep in mind this is not gospel, just a guideline.
Most ice fishing tips you find will give you a place to start. Consider the strategies you acquire and add it to your playbook as you see fit. But don’t be afraid to call an audible if the strategy you are using isn’t producing results.
You will need to make sure you have a variety of lures in your tackle box. Different colors, different hooks and different bait. Start with you’re A-List methods and don’t be afraid to make a change.
Fish smart and be successful.
