Grilled fish recipes are not only tasty, but they have terrific health benefits as well.

Many freshwater fish are full of Omega-3 fatty acids (the good fat). Studies have shown that Omega-3 fatty acids can lower the risk of heart disease, type two diabetes and certain types of cancer.

There are more reasons to eat grilled fish than just taste!

OK, onto some fish recipes….

Grilled Lake Trout

1 Large lake trout fillet

1 Tbsp of sea salt

Bay leaf

Fresh ground pepper corn

1 Tsp garlic powder

1 Tsp onion powder

1 Tsp dried rosemary

Olive oil

1 Tbsp honey

Mix all the ingredients but the oil and honey in a bowl. Brush the trout with the olive oil and sprinkle the fish with the ground herbs. Drizzle the honey on top of the fish. Place the lake trout on the plank and cook on a hot BBQ. The fish is done when it is flaky. Very good. Serve with lemon wedge.

Grilled Walleye

Chopped red onion

Garlic powder

Fresh lemons

Ground pepper

Salt to taste

Paprika

Butter (not margarine, we’re serious about this!)

Make a foil boat and place the walleye in it. Season to taste with the spices.

Slice the lemon and put them on the fillets. Add about a 1/4 inch pad of butter every 3-4 inches. Garnish with the red onions.

Grill on medium for 8-10 minutes. Turn the fillets and cook for another 5 minutes. They will be done when the fish flakes.

Serve with lemon wedges.
