After you have signed up with ClickBank and have your own ClickBank affiliate nickname, proceed to the hop-link instructions.

After you have signed up with ClickBank to generate your affiliate account, you are ready to start promoting and marketing Freshwater Favorites.

The process of marketing the eBook is simple. All you need to do is place your special referral links on your WebPages or in your e-zine and send traffic to the Freshwater Favorites website. These special links are called “ClickBank hop-links” and through them ClickBank keeps track of the traffic you send to the sales page (and gives you credit for the e-book sales you generate).

Your hop-link is unique to you and only you. No one else has it.

This is why it is so important to create your hop-links correctly. If you use the wrong hop-link, you will not get credit for the sales that you generate and all your efforts will be in vain.

As your partner – I don’t want that. I want you to be successful with this affiliate program. If you are happy – then I am happy!

Here is the proper way to set up your hop-link:

1) The standard ClickBank hop-link format is: http://xxxxxxx.vendor.hop.clickbank.net

Freshfav10 is our vendor name (our product ID), so that looks like this:

http://xxxxxxx.freshfav10.hop.clickbank.net

2) So now, all you have to do is insert YOUR ClickBank affiliate nickname in the place where the xxxxxxx are located

For example, if your affiliate nickname is chad44 (this is just an example. Always use YOUR nickname), then the hop-link would look like this:

http://chad44.freshwaterfavorites.hop.clickbank.net

That's all there is to it. When someone clicks through YOUR hop-link, they are redirected to the Freshwater Favorites sales page and a small tracking file called a “cookie” is dropped onto the computer of the visitor. This "marks" that visitor as coming from your link and as he or she buys the book, you’ll be credited for the sale.

This may sound intimidating but it really isn't. Clickbank has a very easy interface and will walk you through it with ease.

Note about ClickBank cookies: ClickBank uses 60 day cookies (tracking files that are dropped onto the visitor’s computer), so if the people you send to Freshwater Favorites purchase that day or if they return any time within the next 60 days, you will get the commission for the sale. This is a plus for our affiliates as MANY affiliate programs do not offer such a long cookie period.

This extends significantly your opportunity to make the sale and is something that all affiliate marketers look for in a trusted affiliate program.

A good product review should be its own page on your website. It is recommended that you do a soft pre-sell of the eBook. You are warming up the buyer and not actually “selling” to them. If done right, pre-selling the product can create you a large amount of income. Remember, the sales page will sell for you. Your article will be much more credible if you do not try to “sell”.

Explain why you are reviewing the product. It helps the customer make an informed decision if they understand why you would take the time to review our program. Tell what is inside the eBook. What specifically does it teach, and what makes it unique?

Be positive. Research shows that a positive review sells better than a review where the writer thinks they need to be “balanced” (talk about the pro’s and con’s). There have been split-test studies done on reviews like the one you will write, and every single time it has been found that putting “slight” objections in there to make a review sound “more balanced” reduces conversions (or at the very least has never improved conversions).

But remember – don’t be over the top “salesy”. Just be positive.

You should try to make it sound like you’re talking to someone. You don’t need to sound completely impersonal, (like a newspaper review would be). You want it to sound like it’s impartial. You simply want to sound like a regular person who has used this product and has decided to write a review for it!

Include a personal testimonial about the enjoyment or success you received from the book. Perhaps a meal you prepared that went over well with your family. Maybe a recipe you used for a shore lunch. Or even a delicious fish meal you made for a special occasion. These add a real touch to a review and readers love it.

Remember it’s a review not a sales page! DO NOT just copy the material from the Freshwater Favorites sales page. Your conversion rates will be dismal. Trust me.

Page Layout of a Solid Product Review

  • A great Headline that matches the theme of the review – your keyword should be in the headline
  • The review should be its own “dedicated page
  • The page is optimized for a specific keyword phrase” (Example: Freshwater Favorites Review, Freshwater Favorites, Freshwater Favorites Cookbook). Remember to do your on-page search engine optimization.
  • Have an eye-catching graphic with your embedded affiliate link above the fold on the page and to the right (built right into the flow of your article) in plain view for the reader (we provide many graphics for you below).
  • There is at least a 4.5 to 5 star-rating at the top. (Something about star ratings really helps convert sales. This too has been split tested and has proven to drive success. Just use a small jpg file.).
  • Your affiliate link to the Freshwater Favorites sales page is embedded in text and above the fold and near the eye-catching graphic at the top of the article.
  • Down at the bottom is one more obvious affiliate link to the sales page in both text and (optional) graphic format.
  • Lead your reader into clicking on your affiliate link. For example, some variation of this...”To check out the cookbook for yourself, click here. You will be happy you did...”.
  • 400-600 words .

Another great way to send visitors to the sales page is to create related keyword focused articles. This widens your reach for people looking for fish recipes and can really create a lot of traffic for you.

These articles don’t have to be any longer than 400 words and they are often easy to write. Here are a few keywords (out of the more than 100 we provide in the list above) as a simple example.

  • How to cook salmon
  • Walleye recipes
  • Freshwater fish recipes
  • Best Salmon Recipe
  • Fish Sauce Recipe
  • Baked Salmon Recipes
  • Northern Pike Recipes
  • And so on...

These and the other provided keyword phrases are very targeted and can drive you a lot of sales if set up properly. Similar to the product review page keep the following in mind;

  • The filename of the page should be the keyword
  • The article should be its own “dedicated page
  • The page is optimized for a specific keyword phrase”. Remember to do your on-page search engine optimization. This means sprinkling the keyword phrase in the article a handful of times
  • Have an eye-catching graphic with your embedded affiliate link above the fold on the page and to the right (built right into the flow of your article) in plain view for the reader (we provide many graphics for you below).

An autoresponder is one of the most powerful sales tools you can use. It can drive a huge amount of business for you because it touches your reader once a day, week or month over a certain period of time.

You set it up once and leave it alone. It does the marketing for you.

An autoresponder is a sophisticated piece of software (that is actually quite easy to use) and automates the following procedures:

1) Collecting email addresses and adding them to a database.
2) Automating the job of sending email to the subscribers on your list.

With an autoresponder you can: send an email to some or all of your subscribers at once, collect valuable data about your subscribers and schedule a series of emails to be sent automatically on fix intervals.

Don’t settle for cheap autoresponder software. It will cost you in time, headaches, subscribers and money. Here’s what we recommend: Aweber

For your convenience we have included an auto-responder series of sales letters for you.

These have been proven to work. We suggest re-writing them to match your writing style and to give them your own voice. But if you choose to use them the way they are, you are welcome to do that as well.

Testing and tracking should be a part of your affiliate marketing campaigns.

Knowing how many people have seen your campaigns, clicked on your links, and understanding which campaigns are winners is crucial information that can seriously skyrocket your success.

There are numerous free and paid tracking solutions. Here is a list of a few good tracking solutions:

http://www.linkcounter.com
http://www.multitrackgenerator.com

Basically there are two reasons why you should always cloak (hide) your affiliate hop-link.

One reason is that people by nature are less likely to buy when they suspect that you earn a commission for recommending a product. Tests have clearly shown that using an uncloaked affiliate link significantly decreases conversion rates (and that means less sales and less money for your efforts).

The second reason is that ClickBank hop-links are ugly and have little to no sales value. That simply means people are less likely to click through ClickBank hop-links than they would on more appealing versions.

As an example tell me which of these two links you would be more likely to click on:

http://Sam443523QR.freshwaterfavourites.hop.clickbank.net
http://www.AmazingFishRecipes.com

Obviously, you would click on the second link because it is more appealing and probably more relevant to your search. Fortunately, there is an easy solution to the two problems above and it’s called link cloaking.

Here are 3 of the most popular method to hide your affiliate hop-link:

Method 1: Use HTML to display different destination link

Simply use the following HTML code:

Example HTML code:

<a href="http://XXXXXX.freshwaterfavorites.hop.clickbank.net">FreshwaterFavorites.com</a>

On your page the code will display as FreshwaterFavorites.com but send people through your affiliate link (be sure to replace the XXXX's with your affiliate ID.)

Method 2: Use “link shrinkers”

There are many 3rd party services you can use to hide your affiliate link and shrink it at the same time. This service is free, fast and easy. What more can you wish for?

Here are a few examples:

http://tinyurl.com/
http://www.shorturl.com
http://www.shrinkmylink.com
http://url123.com

Note: while link shrinkers work fine, they do convert less on average than more appealing versions. Additionally, link shrinking services come and go, so as a warning, if you’re using these services be sure to check them often.

Method 3: Buy link cloaking software

Here are some of the most popular link cloaking software that are on the market today:

If you are serious about making money as an affiliate marketer, link cloaking software can be more than worth it.

Outside of using them in your product reviews, placing banners or ads in strategic places can be a great way to convert more of your visitors to income. But you need to remember a few things:

  • Don't forget to embed your affiliate link in the banner or ad
  • They need to be in the line of sight of your visitors
  • They work best above the fold on your webpage
  • They work equally as well in the flow of an article – and not in the left or right margins/columns.
  • They should match the theme of each page you are putting it on (in this case pages that attract people who like to fish or people who are looking for recipes).
  • Placing one at the very end of your article leaves your visitor only one place to go – clicking on your banner or ad (and being directed to the sales page). In other words, the very end of the article is a good place too.
  • But note: Simply placing banners and ads on your website will not lead to high sales like articles, auto-responders and product reviews. Try using them with the other strategies listed above.

Here is a variety of banners and ads created for you to use. You can right click on each to save to your computer and then upload to your host server. Remember to add your affiliate link to each banner you use on your website.
