2) So now, all you have to do is insert YOUR ClickBank affiliate nickname in the place where the xxxxxxx are located

For example, if your affiliate nickname is chad44 (this is just an example. Always use YOUR nickname), then the hop-link would look like this:

That's all there is to it. When someone clicks through YOUR hop-link, they are redirected to the Freshwater Favorites sales page and a small tracking file called a “cookie” is dropped onto the computer of the visitor. This "marks" that visitor as coming from your link and as he or she buys the book, you’ll be credited for the sale.

This may sound intimidating but it really isn't. Clickbank has a very easy interface and will walk you through it with ease.

Note about ClickBank cookies: ClickBank uses 60 day cookies (tracking files that are dropped onto the visitor’s computer), so if the people you send to Freshwater Favorites purchase that day or if they return any time within the next 60 days, you will get the commission for the sale. This is a plus for our affiliates as MANY affiliate programs do not offer such a long cookie period.

A good product review should be its own page on your website. It is recommended that you do a soft pre-sell of the eBook. You are warming up the buyer and not actually “selling” to them. If done right, pre-selling the product can create you a large amount of income. Remember, the sales page will sell for you. Your article will be much more credible if you do not try to “sell”.

Explain why you are reviewing the product. It helps the customer make an informed decision if they understand why you would take the time to review our program. Tell what is inside the eBook. What specifically does it teach, and what makes it unique?

Be positive. Research shows that a positive review sells better than a review where the writer thinks they need to be “balanced” (talk about the pro’s and con’s). There have been split-test studies done on reviews like the one you will write, and every single time it has been found that putting “slight” objections in there to make a review sound “more balanced” reduces conversions (or at the very least has never improved conversions).

But remember – don’t be over the top “salesy”. Just be positive.

You should try to make it sound like you’re talking to someone. You don’t need to sound completely impersonal, (like a newspaper review would be). You want it to sound like it’s impartial. You simply want to sound like a regular person who has used this product and has decided to write a review for it!

Include a personal testimonial about the enjoyment or success you received from the book. Perhaps a meal you prepared that went over well with your family. Maybe a recipe you used for a shore lunch. Or even a delicious fish meal you made for a special occasion. These add a real touch to a review and readers love it.

Remember it’s a review not a sales page! DO NOT just copy the material from the Freshwater Favorites sales page. Your conversion rates will be dismal. Trust me.

One reason is that people by nature are less likely to buy when they suspect that you earn a commission for recommending a product. Tests have clearly shown that using an uncloaked affiliate link significantly decreases conversion rates (and that means less sales and less money for your efforts).

The second reason is that ClickBank hop-links are ugly and have little to no sales value. That simply means people are less likely to click through ClickBank hop-links than they would on more appealing versions.

Note: while link shrinkers work fine, they do convert less on average than more appealing versions. Additionally, link shrinking services come and go, so as a warning, if you’re using these services be sure to check them often.

If you are serious about making money as an affiliate marketer, link cloaking software can be more than worth it.

Outside of using them in your product reviews, placing banners or ads in strategic places can be a great way to convert more of your visitors to income. But you need to remember a few things:

• Don't forget to embed your affiliate link in the banner or ad
• They need to be in the line of sight of your visitors
• They work best above the fold on your webpage
• They work equally as well in the flow of an article – and not in the left or right margins/columns.
• They should match the theme of each page you are putting it on (in this case pages that attract people who like to fish or people who are looking for recipes).
• Placing one at the very end of your article leaves your visitor only one place to go – clicking on your banner or ad (and being directed to the sales page). In other words, the very end of the article is a good place too.
• But note: Simply placing banners and ads on your website will not lead to high sales like articles, auto-responders and product reviews. Try using them with the other strategies listed above.
