Fly Fishing Accessory

Are you equipped for a good day of fly fishing?


Here are some key items that should be on your fly fishing accessory list. For a perfect day fly fishing don’t forget these important items.

  • Fly Rod
    • For trout 3 to 6 weight rod
    • For lake trout 5 to 6 weight rod
    • For steelhead 7 to 8 weight rod
    • For salmon and pike and 9 to 10 weight rod
  • A reel. Drag is recommended for steelhead and salmon, but not necessary for trout
  • Fly line that is matched to your rod
  • An assortment of leaders
  • Tippet material
  • Fly box
  • A variety of flies based on the location and whether or not your line floats or sinks
  • Hat
  • Good sunglasses
  • Tools
    • Small pliers
    • Retractor
    • Small scissors or cutting device for leaders
