First fish - 4.5 pound walleye

by Jim D.
(Brandon, Manitoba)

First Fish = Happy Angler.

First Fish = Happy Angler.

The walleye was caught at Lake Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan in the spring of 2007 by my son Tyler. It was caught using a night crawler on a yellow jig and a slip bobber. Amazingly, the walleye were only in about 5 feet of water.

The walleye took the young lad 3 or 4 minutes to land as it took a few runs before it ran out of gas.

After we got it to shore the young fisherman said, "this is the best day of my whole life". Not bad for a guy that was three. Since that day he has been "hooked" on fishing.

The exact location on Lake Diefenbaker is top secret!
